ProSiMM-RG Logo Concept

The logo of ProSiMM-RG (Process, Simulation, and Materials Modeling Research Group) gives a glimpse of the core research topics we tackle. It is divided into 4 parts:

1.    Pro: Process
P, the welding line, represents FSW (friction stir welding) and FSP (friction stir processing). FSW and FSP constitute major research topics we work on. The r, orthogonal cutting, and o, drilling, are also a part of our machining operations.

2.    Si: Simulation
Si, the temperature profile, symbolizes the simulation part of our research. For example, DEFORM , the software we use for simulations, provides us with temperature profiles  in order to validate the designed model of the experiment.

3.    MM: Materials Modeling
MM, the grain size pattern, signifies modeling of the materials. The grains size was chosen because it affects the mechanical properties of the materials which is our end goal.

4.    RG: Research group
