ProSiMM-RG’s (process, simulation, and materials modeling research group) primary mission is to contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the mechanical and physical properties of materials by incorporating materials processing, characterization, and simulations. Our research group focuses on advanced processing of materials: metals and natural materials. The Metals processes include: FSW/FSP (friction stir welding and friction stir processing), casting, machining processing, cryogenic, and vibration assisted machining. Natural materials include: bone and wood. Tool condition monitoring is another important aspect of our research. We are also involved in the simulation of all of the above processes.
ProSiMM-RG aspires to lead in the advancement of knowledge in materials processing and simulations with impact on science and technology. We aim to develop multidisciplinary-multiscale expertise in materials processing and simulation methodologies with technological implications that are relevant to Lebanon, the region, and beyond. We intend to explore solutions for fundamental and practical problems in materials' processing, failure, and performance that takes into account technological, environmental, and economical dimensions. Our long term vision is to grow to become a regional research center that solves regional issues.
